Poem #09

2006

I’m not afraid of death, I’m afraid of dying
I’m not afraid of sorrow, I’m afraid of crying
Not crying itself, but what it does to my eyes
And the way it makes me feel, deep down inside

I don’t fear people, I fear losing them
I don’t fear loss, I fear its pain
I don’t fear failing, I fear disappointing,
The very people that find fault with my breathing

But its really not like me to be whining
“Breathing is just mouth gas with good timing.”

I’ll say why I am this way

Humor is my strength, my shield and my sanity
And true weakness is my secret, it will always be
