Room controls, bedside buttons, lighting scenes, fan and climate routines, path lighting, and family-friendly automations work without requiring everyone to learn a dashboard.
04 · Home automation
My house is a practical Home Assistant lab: everyday controls stay simple for the family, while the systems underneath bring together lighting, climate, access, cameras, audio, networking, and a busy maker space.
Room controls, bedside buttons, lighting scenes, fan and climate routines, path lighting, and family-friendly automations work without requiring everyone to learn a dashboard.
Purpose-built views bring cameras, network health, device state, and shop operations into one place. The system is observable enough to troubleshoot without becoming the center of the room.
An Omada network spans indoor and outdoor spaces, while sensors and automations support the house, yard, access points, climate zones, and workshop environment as one connected system.
Featured experiment · Project Aria
Project Aria is a story-driven home escape room orchestrated through Home Assistant and Node-RED. Players are invited in by ARIA, a rogue house AI, then move through a sequence of physical and conversational puzzles that use the real environment as the game board. Lights, speakers, sensors, screens, and controlled access become narrative tools, while a safety-first state machine keeps puzzle logic testable and gives the operator a reset, simulation mode, logs, and an emergency stop.
