God in heaven, I pray to you this day,
Though I’m not quite sure what I should say
It wasn’t long ago that I saw my wrong,
And I kneeled in prayer to you all night long
Well Father, I’ve since been confused,
I’m a little unsure of what I must do,
I’ve admitted my wrong, and what I said, I meant,
I’ve been willing to change, completely repent
But it’s always harder done than said,
And I ask you for help every night before bed,
Why then, Father, do you turn your back to me?
Is it that I’m too far from where I should be?
Have I really become that Bad?
Am I too late for the mercies I could have had?
I assume this because things are worse,
Despite all my prayers and my heartfelt remorse
I’m trying not to presume on your mercies at all,
That’s why I haven’t returned to the Kingdom Hall
I know that’s where your pure servants go to learn,
And I feel that the right to go there I must earn
Sometimes the Elders come by just to talk,
But though they do persist, I always put them off
Though it’s nice of them to be concerned with how I am,
I’m waiting for you to help me, ’cause your the only one who can
God O’ Father, I’m waiting on you,
To restore me, if you choose to
Only then can I return to the fold,
As a loyal sheep that’ll do as it’s told
With your help, my wings will be free,
And I will fly from this system, which tries to keep me
But without your help, here I shall stay,
Far away from your servants who never strayed
Open the door, for I’m still knocking,
Give me a drink, for I’ve been thirsty,
For something I once gave up willingly,
Show me the way, for I am searching
