God in heaven, I pray to you this night
So I may meditate on all your glorious might
That you showed to your servants of the past,
So that all their problems you could unmask
I remember, for instance, the faithful man
Who had lost everything to the Devil’s hand
But when he continued to take his stand,
You said ‘this is my friend, a loyal man’
You rewarded his faith with riches,
Something most men want, this,
But most importantly you gave him peace,
True happiness and a sense of ease
Isn’t that what everybody yearns for,
Strives for, fights for, even dies for?
But will we have to have everything taken away,
Before we’re willing to walk with you in your right way?
Father, forgive me, for I have sinned,
I can barely believe all the mess that I’m in,
I’ve put money and friends ahead of you,
That includes houses, cars, and my career, too
But happiness has never really been mine,
At least not true happiness, that which is hard to find
I am done stumbling along my path of darkness,
I’m now ready to see what your way is
A way that will lead me away from the strife,
That I’ve been pursuing all of my life
A way that leads to greater things,
To all the contentment true joy can bring
Relieve me of these burdens, free my mind,
Please, my father and God, ’til the end of time,
Unteather my wings, that I may fly,
To the heights of happiness, and touch the sky
